Balkan Velo Trail 13 - a regional cycling project, part of the Iron Curtain Trail initiative
In May 2011, CarpatBike took part in the first regional workshop of the “Balkan Velo Trail – BVT 13“ project. Launched in January 2011 by the European Commission, this project promotes a new European cycling route which is part of the EuroVelo network, Balkan Velo Trail. This initiative is strogngy connected to the new ICT, the Iron Curtain Trail.
CarpatBike was invited as the Romanian partner in this project, together with ASWM - Bulgaria, Nevrokopi Municipality - Greece, Business Information and Consulting Centre - Bulgaria, Centre for Development of South - East Planning Region and Centre for Development of East Planning Region from Macedonia. The project aims to develop alternative tourism in the transborder region of these countries and the inclusion of the Iron Curtain Trail on the priorities’ agenda of the national and local authorities in these Countries. We home that this project will contribute also the environmental protection and sustainable development The following workshop will take place in Bulgaria at the end of June. Blue Danube Cycling Tour took place on June 24, 2011 as part of the Blue Danube Festival!
The Danube Competence Center in partnership with the Mehedinti County, Bike Attack Association , Carpat Bike - Romania , Tourism Association Cazanele Dunarii Dubova, Asociatia de Turism Montan si Ecologie SPEO-ALPIN MH, invite you to take part to a bike trip organized by cyclists from Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia and Serbia with the aim of promoting the tourism in Lower Danube area. The Blue Danube Cycling Tour is an event open for all people who want to spend 2 days of biking along the Danube in Romania and Serbia. The event is part of the Blue Week Danube Festival, organized between 18th to 29th of June in the ares Donji Milanovac, Kladovo and Drobeta Turnu Severin.
The tour will follow the routes mentioned below:
Ruta 1: Dubova – Orşova – Portile de Fier (border to Serbia) – Kladovo; 52 km
Ruta 2: Drobeta - Turnu Severin – Gura Vaii – Portiler de Fier (meeting group no. 1) – Kladovo; 25 km

CarpatBike - partner of Emmeduesport Cup Road & MTB Race 2011!
Carpatbike is supporting again in 2011 one of the most successful cycling competitions in Romania: Emmeduesport Cup, a project developed by the National Cyclists’ Association. The competition took place between 21-22 May 2011 in a unique landscape of Romania, the wine Road of Prahova county, and included two days of cycling events:
DAY 1 : a 100 km road race on a hilly road starting from Ploiesti, Bucov Park and passing wine regions such as Valea Calugareasca, Dealu Mare, Domeniile Tohani, Ceptura to finish on the hill of Crama Seciu.
DAY 2 : a day dedicated to mountain biking races with a 70km race and 35 km race on forestry roads and hills offering a stunning view of the wine region from Dealu Mare.
The best climber received the Skoda - King of the Hills Award. More info on : www.cupa.emmeduesport.ro

CarpatBike, partner for "Cupa Emmeduesport" MTB race, October 3rd, 2010
“Cupa Emmeduesport” is one of the most important Romanian MTB competitions, which is also included in the international UCI calendar. The race was held in the hilly area around Ploiesti city, 70 km away from Bucharest city capital. CarpatBike acted as a media partner and actively promoted the event.
Transylvanian Geoquest II partnership, August 2010
Ancient bastions, towers, walls, streets, stairs and squares, bourgeois houses, old monasteries and churches, craftman's workshops and bridges. Experience geocaching in a medieval town, chasing riddles in the middle of Transylvania's hills.” In August 2010 the Romanian Geocaching community organized the second international geocaching event in Brasov. CarpatBike was actively involved in organizing the geocaching cycling track around Brasov. After a successful event in Sighisoara in 2009, the second Transylvanian Geoquest brought together more than 100 participants in Romania.
Partnership in the "Balkan Cycling Trail" EU project, August 2010
In August 2010 CarpatBike was invited to participate in a regional EU cycling project initiated by the Association of South-Western Municipalities (ASWM) in Bulgaria. The “Balkan cycling trail” project includes organizations from Bulgaria, Greece, Macedonia and Romania. In November 2010, ASWM announced that the project was successfully selected for financing. We are looking forward to start developing the project together with our partners in 2011.

CarpatBike, supporter of the "Business on Bike/Bike to work" event initiated by JCI Romania
CarpatBike has joined the “Business on Bike/Bike to work” project initiated by Junior Chamber International (JCI) Bucharest, an initiative to support biking as an alternative means of transport, for business or leisure as well, but in particular to encourage business people to use bicycles for their daily trips to the office. JCI, the initiator of the project, will organize bike ride events and workshops on a monthly basis to raise awareness of the advantages of using bicycles.

CarpatBike, media partner for "The first escape" MTB race, May 9th, 2010
“The first escape” is currently the most successful cycling competition in Romanian gathering more than 1000 competitors in the 2010 race event held close to Bucharest capital. CarpatBike acted as a media partner and also provided logistical support during the race.
"Velorution March" event, 1st -2nd May 2010
For the third year, CarpatBike was sponsor and co-organizer of the Velo March event from Bucharest to Constanta together with the Association “Bate Saua sa priceapa Iapa”. “The Velorution march” started 1st of May in Bucharest and finished 2nd of May in Constanta with almost 200 participants on bike. CarpatBike supported this initiative by organizing the accommodation of participants in Amara resort, facilitating the transport, offering bikes and actively participating in the event.

Iron Curtain Trail workshop in Sofia - March 16, 2010
In March 2010, the European Commission organized the “Iron Courtain Trail” workshop in Sofia. The main aim of the event was to build awareness on the importance of implementing the Iron Curtain Trail as part of the Euro Velo cycling route network. CarpatBike was invited as a representative of a Romanian cycling organization.

22nd of September 2009: "No cars day" in Bucharest
During the Worldwide Mobility Week, CarpatBike joined “Bate Saua” organization in a new urban event: “No cars day”.
7-9 August 2009: Transylvanian Geoquest event in Sighisoara

Together with “Dor de duca” and “Geocaching Romania” associations, CarpatBike is partner for the event supported by Karspersky, Tissot and MyPoster.CarpatBike is organizing the cycling track for the geocaching event around Sighisoara. 85 geocachers from 6 countries had a great time in the old citadel of Sighisoara.
31st of May 2009: CarpatBike is one of the partners for the "Non-smoking day 2009"
Together with “HELP” association, CarpatBike was partner and organizer of the cycling event during the “Non-smoking day”held on 31st of May in Bucharest. We provided bikes for the cycling contest and support for the contest.
1-2 May 2009: CarpatBike together with "Mereu aproape" and "Bate Saua sa priceapa iapa" associations are organizing a new "Velorutia" event
“The Velorution march” started 1st of May in Bucharest and finished 2nd of May in Constanta with more than 100 participants. April 2009: CarpatBike joined AIESEC Bucharest in "Bucurestiul fluiera fault. Din nou"
CSR event, supported by Petrom, REBU, “Youth In Action” association and Carrefour Romania. More than 600 volunteers participated to this social event in Bucharest.
February 2009: CarpatBike and "Bate Saua sa priceapa Iapa" association are partners in a new bike campaign for Raiffeisen Bank Romania
As a continuation of a similar project started in 2008 by Petrom, CarpatBike has recently supported the project initiated by the association ” Bate Saua sa priceapa Iapa” and Raiffeisen Bank, which promotes ecological transportation in the city and bike usage when going to work. The aim is to generate a major change in citizens’ urban behavior and promote the bicycle as an alternative and ecological means of transportation. Based on the 2008 Petrom case study, the project scope is the installation of bicycle racks in all Raiffeisen Bank offices in Bucharest. We are happy to have supported such an ecological initiative for the second year.

June 2008, CarpatBike and Bate Saua support bike to work campaign for Petrom company
CarpatBike has recently supported the project intiated by the Association” Bate Saua sa priceapa Iapa” and Petrom company, that promotes ecological transportation in the city and bike usage when going to work. The aim is to generate a major change in citzens’ urban behaviour and promote the bicycle as an alternative and ecological means of transportation. Its implementation at Petrom will serve as a case study and could be implemented in other companies as well. Thus, representatives of the Association proposed the installation of bicycle racks in all Petrom offices from Bucharest and Ploiesti cities. The project continued with the organization of a special event with the occasion of the World Environment Day, where mass media representatives and Petrom employees took part in a contest on bike. We are happy to have supported such an ecological initiative for the biggest company in Romania.
Partnership for cycling development in Romania
“CarpatBike is joining the educational campaign “Velorution” for the development of urban cycling in daily transport. Initiated by the Association ” Bate Saua sa priceapa Iapa”, the revolution on two wheels promotes the benefits of bike usage in daily transport and has as main target Bucharest citizens. The aim is to generate a major change in citzens’ urban behaviour and promote the bicycle as a social benefit and value. Its implementation in Bucharest will serve as a case study and could be implemented in the rest of the country as well. It will include a radio and press campaign, outdoor and print media, interviews and documentaries for radio and TV as well as additional communication via blogs and online groups. CarpatBike will support and promote the activities of the campaign as well as finding financing opportunities that would support cycling development in Romania.” More information on the campaign may be found at the following link, www.velorutia.ro”
Where will you be cycling with us in 2008?
Carpatbike is proudly announcing its first tours for 2008. We will be taking you to the beautiful region of Maramures in the Northern part of Romania, to the Hungarian ethnic villages in Harghita and Covasna counties and to the beautiful Rarau mountains from Bucovina. Soon we will be preparing tours along the Danube Delta, to the enchanting fortified churches from Transylvania or to explore the Northern Moldavian monasteries.
