During this five days journey you will explore two different areas of the Carpathian Mountains and ride some epic trails through the woods and pastures in the heart of Romania. This amazing tour is for the advanced cyclist but we can adjust the routes level according to your wish. Our dedicated group leader will be available for you to offer information, guidance and the support you need. We will arrange for you accommodation in cosy chalets and guesthouses so you can experience the local flavours.

Day by day
After your arrival In Bucharest, you will be transfered directly to Brasov or you can arrange for your individual arrival in Brasov. Depending on the arrival time you will have the option to have a short walk in the old city or to prepare your next days’ experience.
Overnight in a beautiful medieval guesthouse.
The first day will include up to 80 km route through the forest, passing through Azuga mountain resort. Total ascent for this route is ~2,000m. Once you are in Azuga (after 30 km), you can visit the local winery and have lunch here. Alternatively, if you don’t want to continue the route in the forest, the route back to Brasov can be done on the main road (asphalt), for another 40 km route.
Overnight at the same location in Brasov.
Today you will climb from Brasov to Poiana Brasov mountain resort on the forest trail (~15 km ) and descend on the paved road to Rasnov city for 5 more km on asphalt. From here you will start a 50 km tour with 1,250 m ascent. Back in Rasnov, you will be transferred to Campulung area, in a nice chalet at the base of the mountain.
Today’s route is a beautiful MTB marathon route near Campulung area.

Today you have two options of cycling in Iezer Mountains: a more difficult route with 58 km and 3800 m climbing or a shorter route of 42 km with 1700 climbing.
After this tour you will be transfered to Bucharest, where we will have a farewell dinner.

Depending on your flight schedule, we can offer you a complementary 2 hours bike tour in Bucharest capital city.

MEETING AND DEPARTURE
HOW TO GET THERE:
We suggest that you arrive at one day prior to the trip start, which will enable you to adjust to the time zone and minimize the risk of missing the trip start due to flight-related delays. We recommend that you fly into Bucharest airport. Travel time between Bucharest and Brasov is approximately 3 hours. On a weekday, there are 2-3 good trains per day traveling from Bucharest to Brasov and the ticket price ranges from 15 EUR/person.
Please ask tour consultant for specific details and advance bookings and inform the tour company on your flight schedule to advise for appropriate transfer times for meeting and departure.
MEETING DAY:
On arrival, the participants will be informed on the programme and other necessary information, they will be familiarised with the local customs and will receive the travel kit (map, equipment, bike and so on). Our guides will make sure that the participants fulfil all terms and conditions.
In case one or more participants did not reach the meeting date and point as scheduled, it is the responsibility of the participant to reach the group during the trip, according to CarpatBike terms and conditions. They will receive the support of our team in finding the group as soon as possible.
Due to the long distance for the first day and the organisational matters, the first day will not include cycling or it will only include short local rides, a visit in the city and local sights.
TERRAIN
This tour includes forest roads and mountain tracks through pastoral landscapes and peaceful scenery. The terrain includes a few asphalt routes, and rolling hills and is suitable for cyclists in very good physical condition, varying from 60 to 80 km per day.
On this tour, 80% is on off-road terrain and 20 % on roads shared with some traffic.

GT, Cannondale or Trek XC bicycles are available on this tour, and are included in the tour price.

While a helmet can be provided, we recommend that for safety and hygiene reasons you bring your own or plan to purchase one upon arrival. Please consider also bringing your own water recipient.
